Specialists in hand built wood composite kayaks canoes and dinghy’s
Here are a few of the things customers have said about us and our boats.
A little write up about the Chesapeake 16 from Benny after he had test paddled the kayak. Benny is a kayaking coach with many years experience of paddling all types of kayaks.
I found this beautfull craft a real joy to paddle. The care taken over the construction process is evident in all aspects; from lines, fittings and the brilliant finishes. I must have paddled about eight or ten different designs of seaboat last year but this boat stands out in my memory. A boat that feels easy going yet has superb accelertion and solid turning ability. i didn’t have time to take the boat into any serious conditions but it’s a boat I feel I would definately thought I’d like to. So thanks for the test run, a great compliment, all the best, Benny – associate of Liquid Logistics, Canoeing & Kayaking.

Harbour Boats Demo Day at P.H.C.C.
Sunday the 17th of June dawned a little better than expected weather wise and we wisked off to the unit where Harbour boats make the Chesapeake based Wooden/composite sea kayaks. John and Heather were waiting with their son(whose name I have very rudely forgotten) and we soon had the 7 demo boats loaded and off down to lake pier. A small but enthusiastic group of P.H.C.C. paddlers were waiting to help unload the boats and we soon had people hopping in and out of the various boats to compare their attributes.
Everyone was immiediately impressed with the build quality of all the boats , the ones to really impress were the new junior Sea kayak , the Mill Creek open canoe and the low volume Chesapeake 16.
All the boats performed exceptionally well. the juniors who tried out the new 12 Ft sea boat all commented on it’s light weight and the ease with which they were able to paddle it.
My personal favourite is the standard (high Volume ) 16 Chesapeake, it’s a very comfortable boat with a good turn of speed and is very reassuring in the choppy conditions we were experiencing in the harbour. Our slightly older juniors all found the low volume 16 and the 14 ft chesapeake very easy to paddled and the 16 has a real turn of speed. Personally I can’t Wait for John to make an 18 Ft low volume boat!! it should really Fly
For those who didn’t manage to get down , John is happy to provide a demo boat for people to try out .
Harbour boats are a local company supplying custom built Kayaks to a very High standard and as such deserve our support.
For those looking for a quality built Kayak in an alternative material at a very competitive price—look no further. The boats are beautifully built and it’s obvious that John and Heather are passionate about their product , so amble on down and have a coffee and a chat at their unit in Hamworthy.

This is a copy of the email I recieved from a customer who purchased a Chesapeake 16LT. Unfortuantly he loved the kayak but being a large man with large feet he found it cramped his toes on a longer paddle. We done a straight exchange for him so he now has a Chesapeake 16 standard and a Bayside 12s for his children.
Firstly how the canoeing is going, round the island trip 1 hour 22 min for 8 miles, 8 mph side wind 1 foot chop, 6 mile trip to Wareham river and back 1 hour.
Missed the harbour race due to bad back and twisted knee.
Alex still thinks the small one is a bit wobbly, but the other two get on OK with it, Debra has not tried it yet.
